Conceptual elevations for a new single family home being designed in Northern California. As the clients value their privacy, the house features a central inner facing courtyard. The intent of the exterior design is to create a 'solid buffer' to the site and embrace the inner courtyard, providing security and safety for the clients. To create aesthetic interest and a dynamic composition, the volumes of the inner spaces are expressed on the exterior via differing materials and varying planes. The proposed elevations employ durable materials- bent steel plate, cementitious horizontal siding, and corrugated metal siding.
